Written by Kyle Campbell on behalf of GLHF. Nearly a year and a half since Metroid Prime 4's E3 2017 announcement, Nintendo still isn't ready to show the game off or announce a release window. After the game’s absence at E3 2018, Nintendo of America president and COO Reggie Fils-Aime explained that it was well in development but it was not at a point where it was the right time to share more. So yeah, be patient and Metroid Prime 4 will be here in no time! Revealed to the world at E3 2017, Metroid Prime 4 was reportedly being created by a talented new development team at Bandai Namco Studios Japan. Plus, there are loads of exciting games coming to Nintendo Switch soon, like Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Pokémon Legends: Arceus. If anything, it’s proof that Nintendo wants the team at Retro Studios to take their time and make something great. While it’s easy to take this as a sign that Metroid Prime 4 is in trouble, it’s important to remember that game developers leave and join AAA projects all the time. Metroid Prime 4 s development issues are certainly the greatest factor in explaining why the game hasnt come out yet.

However, it’s not like fans are starving for content since Metroid Dread came out last year. It’s been five long years since the announcement of Metroid Prime 4 and three years since Retro Studios took over development. Then in 2019, Nintendo released an almost unprecedented statement regarding the game: Metroid Prime 4 would be starting development over from scratch. None of this sheds much like on the project, but it at least confirms Metroid Prime 4 is still in the works for Nintendo Switch. These range from a tools engineer position to character artists, and all are in the Austin, TX area, where Retro Studios are located. On Thursday, Retro Studios shared several job postings, all of which are for Metroid Prime 4. We’ve heard next to nothing about Metroid Prime 4 since Retro Studios took over its development in 2019, but it’s not gone anywhere.
